Reid, Thomas Harvey, age 84, of Beavercreek, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 4, 2017, at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born on September 5, 1932 in Gallipolis, OH, the son of Matthew and Margaret (Isenhart) Reid, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Reid Melcher, his son, Matt Reid, three brothers, George, Floyd and Jimmy Simmons, a sister, Betty Lemley and his grandson, Brad Enerson. Reid, Thomas Harvey, age 84, of Beavercreek, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 4, 2017, at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born on September 5, 1932 in Gallipolis, OH, the son of Matthew and Margaret (Isenhart) Reid, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Reid Melcher, his son, Matt Reid, three brothers, George, Floyd and Jimmy Simmons, a sister, Betty Lemley and his grandson, Brad Enerson. Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Esther (Benson) Reid; 5 children, Chuck and wife, Char Reid, Debbie and husband, Rusty Bell, Cindy Reid-Christenson, Mike and wife, Sherry Reid, Ron Reid; son-in-law, Joe Melcher; sister, Isabelle Marino; 20 grandchildren, 21 great- grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He was a retired Master Sargent with the United States Air Force after 20 years of distinguished service and completed 15 years of civilian work at Wright Patterson Air Force Base with the 4950th Test Wing as an aircraft mechanic, specializing in navigational instruments. He was also a member of the original C.O.P.P. in Beavercreek. Thomas was known for his punctuality and being a perfectionist, who could repair anything. He was an expert watchmaker, an avid Buckeye Fan, but most especially enjoyed fishing, family and his grandkids. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road with Pastor Wilie Rhinehart, Jr. officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Mt. Zion Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017.
